School Uniform Policy
Uniform
We wear our uniform and encourage all children to wear it with pride, since it signifies that they belong to the Hatherley family. We believe that a smart uniform plays a key role in:
- Promoting the ethos of our school
- Providing our children with a sense of belonging and identity
- Setting an appropriate tone for education in our school
We provide a complete list of items needed for children's school uniform in this policy and our website.
In line with the latest legislation (September 2026), our policy meets the new requirement, which limits the number of compulsory branded items and PE kit to 3 or fewer as detailed below. Please note that our only request for a branded item is our school jumper/cardigan, though this is optional.

Jewellery
On health and safety grounds, children should not wear jewellery to school. The exceptions to this are stud pierced earrings. To ensure our pupils have the safest experience in their PE lessons, jewellery must be removed or covered. Younger children may struggle to remove and replace earrings themselves. In this case, it is advisable for them not to wear earrings on PE days.
The following items are not permitted.
- jeans or tracksuit bottoms
- Other coloured sweatshirts, jumpers or cardigans
- Heeled shoes
- Flip Flops
Lost property
Lost property will be put in the lost property box, which is readily available in school. We shall endeavour to return named items to individuals as they are found.
We kindly ask that you label your child's name on all clothing, PE kit, bags and footwear.
