Art

High quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge children, providing them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of Art, Craft and Design. At Hatherley Infant School we aim to develop children's creativity and imagination providing children with the inspiration, opportunities and experiences to develop their own ideas, using a range of media and techniques.

We provide art, craft and design activities that relate to children’s own identity and experiences, the natural and man made objects and materials with which they are familiar and the locality in which they live.

As artists we:

• Use our experiences and ideas to inspire our work
• Explore a variety of techniques e.g. painting, drawing, printing, collage, model making using natural materials and sewing
• Learn about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers.

We hope that by the end of Year 2 our children will be able to confidently and enthusiastically communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form and pattern and space, and have a genuine love and enthusiasm for creativity.
